A Question of Labour : Indentured Immigration
$270.00
A Question of Labour: Indentured Immigration Into Trinidad and British Guiana, 1875-1917
When West Indian slaves were emancipated in the 1830's, it was a natural response for the sugar planters to seek to replace them with immigrant labour. The main source of this labour came from India. The importation of Indian labourers began on a large scale in 18545 and apart from a break between 1845 and 1851, it continued until 1917.
